I have had the honor of working for WWE as Lead Character Sculptor for almost a year now. We have Created realistic likeness sculpts of Wrestlers over the course of a year-long production process that culminated in their debut at Royal Rumble this past January.
Visualized as freestanding posed marble sculptures, Royal Rumble drew conceptually from contemporary artists as well as from the pathos of Ancient Greece and Rome. A richly detailed world built from architectural elements that nod towards the kings both ancient and modern was filled with dynamically posed characters both singular and in groups.
Subtly rendered using advanced lighting, materials and shader techniques, all shots were built to serve one purpose; that of celebrating the talent, personalities and epic battle that would ensue on event night.
With over 40 sculptures completed over the course of the year, the work continues. I have attached zbrush BPRs of one of the biggest WWE superstars, Triple H, alongside the videos to Royal Rumble 2016 showreel and breakdown. I will share other wrestlers soon. The credit follows below:
